Making Memories in the kitchen
I am one of 10 kids. I have a lot of fun memories growing up with my family. Even recently, my husband and I and 7 of my siblings and their spouses went on a cruise to Mexico together. It was a blast to be vacationing together as a party of 12, and it’s always been a blast to be a member of my family.
In fact, we’ve recently started a blog together to document our life as a family. As I have been thinking about it though, as with all families. We all had our own activities that we were in. My mom made it a rule that dinner time was family time. No matter what our activity was, we had to be at dinner. We’ve had great memories around the dinner table. We played food mix-up games, celebrated each other’s successes in lives and just connected around the dinner table. This tradition has lived on and almost every week you’ll see 10-20 people at my parents house for Sunday Dinners.
Now that I am a mom, I want to keep this tradition alive. I want dinner time to be a mandatory time as a family so that we can have that habit in the Trent and Jean Colarusso family too!
One tip though! Make sure you are enjoying dinner together, no matter how busy your family is. Having Dream Dinners always ready to go in your freezer is one way to cut the prep time so you can enjoy dinner as a family. But whether you are using Dream Dinners in your life or not, don’t get caught in the kitchen making dinner the whole time. Make Dinner. Sit Down. And enjoy!
