Is your life too busy?
To have a good bedtime with a three year old and a two year old, it’s all about routine. At least, that’s what I am told. We eat dinner, play around the house, take a bath, brush our teeth, say our prayers, and then it’s time for bed … right? Okay, well actually my kids are the ones who are making the routine. It runs smoothly until it’s time to actually climb into bed and go to sleep. Then the kids also want to add a snack, three more books, just one more game, and then finally – with big cute eyes that stare into my own and melt my heart every time – “Mom, won’t you lay down with me? I want to cuddle with you!” Then I read him a Dr. Suess book until he finally passes out of exhaustion at 10pm.
Last night we were reading the Cat in the Hat, and when it came to the part when the Cat in the Hat is juggling all the household objects, I realized that I am kind of like the Cat in the Hat.
As a wife, a mom, and a business owner, I am constantly juggling home life, work life and personal life. And then as soon as I can handle what I have, I say “look at me! Look at me now!” and I add like 20 more things to my plate.
At what point is it just too much? Just like Dr. Suess knows, soon it will be too much and all of a sudden we’ll see “all the things fall”.
If you’re like me and you’re trying to do it all! Then take a step back. Make a change. Simplify, start streamlining, make your life easier so you can start enjoying all the moments instead of being so busy that you are always off to your next trick instead of appreciating the moments you are in.
